Greatest 80’s Teen Movies

I’ve said this before but the 80’s brought us some amazing movies. Especially when it came to horror movies and movies for teens. Here is a list of the top 10 greatest 80’s teen movies. Let me know if your favorite made the list or not.

The Lost Boys:

The Lost Boys is a fantastic vampire movie that set the bar high for any other movies about bloodsuckers. I don’t think I’ve found a vampire movie yet that has beat it. The movie is about two brothers who move to a new town, to discover that the area is a haven for vampires. If you’re a vampire lover than this movie definitely for you.

The Breakfast Club:

Everyone who has seen this movie loves it! The movie is based on 5 high school students all with very different backgrounds who find themselves facing detention together. When detention ends they can’t help but wonder if school will ever be the same again after they each tell their story to the group making them see each other in a different light.

Back To The Future:

Back To The Future is an 80’s classic about a teen boy who is thrown back in time into the 50’s, there he meets the younger version of his parents and that’s when the problems begin.

A Nightmare On Elm Street:

Every sleepover needed a good horror movie and this is undoubtedly the one that would scare teens the most and make them never want to fall asleep again. The movie brought us one of the most well-known horror icons ever, Freddy Krueger.

The Goonies:

Who in their right mind doesn’t like The Goonies? The movie is based on two brothers who find a treasure map and in a desperate bid to save their home the boys and a group of friends go in search of one-eyed willies treasure.

The Karate Kid:

Wax on, wax off! The Karate Kid is one of those classic feel good movies that stick with you once you have seen it.About a teen boy who moves to California with his mother ends up a target for a bunch of bullies who know martial arts. Luckily the boy becomes friends with an old man who teaches him the art of karate.

Stand By Me:

I was obsessed with this movie when I was a kid and could still now sit and quote the movie word for word. The movie is about a group of friends who go in search of the body of a stranger who has been accidentally killed near the railway tracks by their homes.

Weird Science:

This movie is actually proudly displayed in my DVD collection and one in a blue moon I still enjoy snuggling up in bed and putting it on. The movie is about 2 misfit teen boys who decide to design their perfect woman on the computer. Due to a weird electric accident, the woman actually appears before them and makes all their wishes come true.

Dirty Dancing:

Seriously if you haven’t seen this movie then you must have been living in a cave. Baby is a boring holiday resort with her sister and parents. The holiday soon takes a turn for the better when she meets a dance instructor and falls head over heels for him.

Porky’s:

Remember American Pie? Well, this movie tops that. The movie is about a group of high school boys who are desperate to lose their virginity. They go to a strip club called porky’s to get some action but the owner takes their money and kicks them out so the boys begin to plot their revenge.
