Best 90s Family Movies

The 90s was a time of perms, boy bands, skirts attached to trousers and of course some awesome 90s family movies. A time before tablets and smartphones kids used to actually have family movie nights and enjoy them. This list of best 90s family movies will take you back in time and make you smile.

It was tougher than I thought it would be to come up with a top 10 list because the 90’s really did know how to bring out classic family movies.  Let me know in the comments what your favorite 90s family movie is.

The Lion King:

Who doesn’t love the lion king? The lion king had it all, great animation, catchy songs, talking animals, an evil uncle and cute baby lions. Let’s not forget the very dim witted and lovable duo Timon and Pumbaa.

Toy Story:

Every kid loves the toy story franchise starring Woody the cowboy and Buzz Light Year space ranger. My 4-year-old son is obsessed with this movie but secretly I don’t mind because I love it too.

Home Alone:

It wouldn’t be a good 90’s kids movie list without this ultimate classic starring a young Macaulay Culkin. This movie is still played every December in my household and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Beauty And The Beast:

This classic Disney has just been remade into a fantastic live action movie but it’s still not a speck on the original.

The Mask:

This hilarious comedy classic movie starring Jim Carrey as an out of control green faced guy is a fantastic watch. If your a 90’s kid then I guarantee you have laughed at this movie.

Hocus Pocus:

Is this movie still in your Halloween playlist? I knew it! Every single Halloween I still turn off the lights and snuggle down to watch this movie with the kids.

Free Willy:

I loved this movie, so much so that I begged my parents for a killer whale, but of course, they said no. If I wasn’t so Afraid of the water I would love to go swimming with one of these guys.

Hook:

A live action take on Peter Pan starring the late Robin Williams. I remember I first watched this movie on the last day of school during an English lesson. I loved it then and I still love it to this day.

Space Jam:

The basketball kids movie starring Michael Jordan and all the Looney Tunes characters had most 90’s kids eyes glued to the screen.

Dr. Dolittle:

This was another amazing 90’s comedy classic movie. Starring Eddie Murphy as Dr. Dolittle the movie was definitely not short of laughs.

So That’s my list of the best 90s family movies. what would you add to it?
